We work with samples, textiles, offcuts, finishes, discontinued materials, and other usable resources that are no longer needed by an organization. Through assessment, collection, categorization, tracking, and redistribution, Sample/d creates pathways for these materials to remain in circulation.

How Sample/d Works
Sample/d provides a structured approach to material diversion, from understanding your waste stream to documenting where materials go next.
We begin by identifying the types, quantities, and frequency of surplus materials your organization generates, helping determine opportunities for one-time or ongoing diversion.
Approved materials are collected from participating organizations across the Greater Toronto Area, with collection schedules tailored to the volume and frequency of your waste stream.
Materials are sorted and documented by type, condition, quantity, and reuse potential to help determine the most appropriate next pathway.
Materials are connected with designers, makers, educational programs, community projects, research, and other appropriate reuse opportunities.
We document where materials are directed and, where possible, how they are used, creating greater transparency around what happens after collection.
Organizations receive measurable diversion data, which can include quantities, material categories, destinations, reuse outcomes, and supporting documentation.
Sample/d provides material diversion certification documenting participation and diversion outcomes for individual projects or ongoing programs.
